Teddy Bears = stress relief!

April is Stress Awareness Month. It seems like everyone goes through a certain amount of stress on a daily basis. Did you know that owning a teddy bear can help relieve stress in children and adults? Yes – even adults! You’re never too old to own a teddy bear!

For children, hugging a teddy bear can release feel-good chemicals like oxytocin and serotonin in the brain. These are the chemicals that make us feel relaxed. A child’s first stuffed animal often becomes the childs first best friend. Teddy bears can travel with a child, giving them a sense of something familiar so they never feel alone.

For adults, teddy bears can bring a sense of comfort and security. A stuffed animal can improve mental health, help us grieve and heal from trauma. Bears that we’ve had since childhood and be nostalgic and bring back pleasant memories.

For me, just being able to create teddy bears reduces my stress and anxiety. Crocheting brings me joy. It makes me happy to create different designs for my bears.
